Protect your teeth with a custom mouthguard
One of the best ways to prevent injury to your teeth and braces is by wearing a custom-made mouthguard during contact sports and other activities. While there are off-the-shelf options, a custom fit will ensure the most protection. Digital teeth scanning and 3D printing make the whole mouthguard experience a pleasure, not a chore.
Custom mouthguards for braces
Usually, a mouthguard will only cover the top row of teeth. If you’re wearing fixed braces though, we can create a custom mouthguard that protects the teeth in any situation. The benefits of getting these made for you or your child during orthodontic treatment are:
- A custom-made to fit your mouth, with or without fixed braces, offering the best possible protection against impact or injury
- A more comfortable fit with friction-free alignment in your mouth
- A mouthguard that complement your orthodontic treatment, making sure it doesn’t damage your fixed braces
When fitted properly, your mouthguard should cover all of your top teeth, apart from the very back ones. It should also sit comfortably over some of the gum - it shouldn’t be hard for your lips to meet.
Mouthguards are also available to patients without any orthodontic appliances and can be made in a variety of colors and designs.Schedule an appointment to get fit
How long will my mouthguard last?
If you look after your mouthguard well, by cleaning it thoroughly after each use, and storing it safely, a good mouthguard could last for years. However, due to general wear and tear and the changes of growing patients, it’s a good idea to replace your mouthguard once a year.
When your treatment is finished, don’t forget to ask for a mouthguard, as we will already have your retainer digital scan and 3D printed model.
