Common issues we treat at BeClear Orthodontics

Issues with tooth and jaw alignment are more common than you might think. But with our expertise - and our state-of-the-art technology - we can map out the ideal alignment of your smile with ease.

Here are some of the orthodontic issues we can treat with great success at our practice.

If you don’t have enough space in your mouth for your teeth, we call that crowding. It can cause rotated and overlapping teeth that make proper dental hygiene difficult. Luckily, crowding is simple to fix with braces and aligners.

Spacing is the opposite of crowding. It’s when there are gaps between your teeth because of extra space or missing permanent teeth. Orthodontic appliances can help to close those gaps.

When your top front teeth stick out well in front of your lower ones, we call this an overbite. This can be caused by abnormal jaw growth, or by teeth growing in at a protruding angle. Overbites can put your top teeth at risk of injury, so orthodontic treatment is important to seek out.

When your lower teeth stick out in front of your upper teeth, it’s called an underbite. Underbites lead to uneven tooth wear, chewing difficulty and TMJ issues. Our team is skilled at treating underbites with a number of orthodontic solutions.

Sometimes, your front and lower teeth cross over each other on the front or sides of your smile. This misalignment, known as a crossbite, can make chewing difficult and affect your facial symmetry. Orthodontic treatment can create harmony for your smile.

Deep bites

When your smile has a dramatic overbite, we call this a deep bite. Deep bites are one of the most damaging orthodontic issues, and can even result in tooth loss. If caught early, we can treat deep bites with a number of methods, but adult patients may require jaw surgery in addition to braces.

Open bites

If there is a space between the top and bottom teeth when you bite together, that is an open bite. This usually occurs in the front, but can affect back teeth as well. Open bites can cause tooth wear, jaw joint pain and difficulty chewing, and can also indicate breathing problems.
